Challenge

The Iowa Claims Conference needed a complete visual identity built from the ground up for its inaugural event. As the first dedicated professional claims conference in the state, the brand had to accomplish two things at once: establish immediate credibility for an event with no prior history, and signal that this was something genuinely new for Iowa's claims community. The deliverables spanned the full conference brand ecosystem, including the conference logo, brand guide, social media design templates, and presentation slide deck, requiring a cohesive visual system that could carry consistently across every touchpoint.

Solution

Kuva Media developed the Iowa Claims Conference's complete brand identity around a single design concept rooted in the history of the industry it serves. he visual system draws on Sanborn fire maps, the meticulously detailed property surveys produced from the late 1800s through the early 1900s that insurance underwriters used to assess risk across American cities and towns, documenting construction materials, building layouts, water supply infrastructure, and occupancy, block by block. Iowa-specific Sanborn maps served as the primary design element, grounding the conference's identity in the actual history of property insurance in the state. The choice was intentional. Sanborn maps represent the industry's foundational commitment to precision and documentation. Using them as the visual anchor for Iowa's first dedicated claims conference created a through line between where this profession came from and the new chapter this event represents. The resulting brand system, logo, brand guide, social media templates, and presentation slide deck, gives the Iowa Claims Conference a visual identity that reflects the professionalism of the practitioners it was built to serve.
